Gardening.....

(I had time today to do a few posts.  It seems like that's how it usually happens with me, so if you want to, scroll down and read the next few posts.)

This year I really wanted a garden because we were in the middle of moving into a new house last year when it was time to plant, so it didn't happen.  This year we were trying to get the sprinkling system and lawn in, but Reed was nice and made time for it.  BUT.....we were in a hurry, and didn't kill all the weeds and GRASS first, so it's been a lot of work!  Even more than usual.  The grass was so hard to keep up with, so Reed found a mini tiller on Craig's list that just needed something welded back on, then it was as good as new.....for 25 bucks!  Now I'm able to keep up with the garden somewhat, and it is growing better than we've ever had.  Theses pictures were a while ago....now we're actually eating a bunch of stuff out of it.  So far we've had yellow squash, zucchini, radishes, lettuce, spinach, carrots, peas, and beets.  It's so fun to have everything actually work so far!  We attribute it to having automatic sprinklers back there, so we don't have to worry about watering.  And.......the truckload of poop that I got as part of my Mother's Day gift, haha.

There is something so creative and satisfying, and somethimes frustrating, about growing a garden. I understand why 88 year mother who can hardly hobble around still has to have her garden every year, although the size of it is shrinking.
