From the Mouth of Babes

So, my friend Jenny does this thing on her blog where she records cute or funny things that her kids say.  Every time I tell Reed something funny that one of our kids say he says, "You should right it down."  But I never do!  So, Jenny, I'm going to start copying you, and start posting it. I'm going to call it "From the Mouth of Babes," and I'm sure it will be mostly what Macie Says for a while.

-We were in the car driving home from Idaho Falls having a discussion about how when Macie has kids, I will be Grandma Julie, Branson will be uncle Branson, Allie will be Aunt Allie, and Daddy Grandpa Reed.

Macie: "And I'll be a mom, and you can come see me and my baby. Because you'll be lonely when I grow up. You can visit me, because I'll be a mom............I wonder what color phone I will have. Hmm....probably pink.

-We had a discussion one night about veins and blood....at dinner time :)  The next day Macie was running through the house and yells, "Mom, I just felt my blood bouncing, I did!" She had just had water :)

-I was telling Macie that we were going to take a little trip in a while, and that she was going to stay at her Grandma's house for a few nights. I told her I would leave a little gift for every day I was gone. I was thinking like: new watercolors, coloring book, new toothbrush, things like that.  And Macie said, "Ooooh, and I will get a Sleeping Beauty dress, and polly pockets, and......."  I stopped her and told her they wouldn't be big presents, just something little. And she says, "Oh, like a diamond! I love those!" Hmm.....not exactly what I meant :)

-Macie says the cutest prayers, and sometimes they last forever.  The other day she said, "......and please bless we'll be nice to the fairies."

-Macie was giving us an FHE lesson the other week about being kind to each other.  We asked her what it meant to be kind and she said (as Branson was pestering her), "Not hitting, not pushing, not pinching.....all the things Branson is doing right now."  Me and Reed got a kick out of it, because he was doing all those things at the moment.

-Every time we drive to Firth Reed tells Macie and Branson to breath in through their noses really big as we pass the Dairy. Haha, rude I know.  So they do and Reed says, "What do you smell?" Macie yells, "Buffalo Poo!"

The other day Branson got a nail polish open while I was changing his diaper. Dumped it  in his mouth, so it got all over his hands and arms when he was spitting it out and wiping his tongue off.  This was right before we were supposed to leave to get the oil changed.....we were late.

Macie wanted her picture taken too.

And here's Allie......with no pants.

Cute little girl.

This is Branson's new favorite spot.

Halloween 2012

This Halloween season was full of activities! It seemed like we had already had Halloween a few times by the time it actually got here!  So by Halloween I was a little Halloweened out......but I'll try not to feel like that next year.  The kids really like it though, so that's what matters.  We grew a bunch of pumpkins in our garden this year, but only got around to carving one.  Here it is, crooked smile and all! That might have been my fault ;)  Reed did the eyes and nose, and I wanted to do the mouth....hehe.  I stuck the knife in and Reed was like, "Are you going to draw it on with something first?"  "No, I always just do it like this."  Hence the goofy smile, haha.

Reed and I dressed up as an Amish couple first, and then bums the second time. Can I just say that I really don't like dressing up? So twice in one year was pretty amazing.  I forgot to get any pictures either time though!

Macie as a Princess.

Branson as a skeleton.

And Allie as Little Red Riding Hood, but she hated the hood.

Macie Starts Preschool!

Macie started preschool this September! She loves it! And it gives her something that is just for her, which she likes. I switch off with a couple other mom's and we take turns being the teacher. I love it! It's so fun! And it's only my turn about once a month, it's perfect! Here is Macie on her first day of preschool away from home......with her sparkly skirt and sparkly shoes :)  And her Princess backpack of course.

Allie turns ONE!!!

I can't believe it, but our little baby Allie turned one on October 20th!  It makes me so sad this time around! Where did my baby go?!  I have enjoyed this little girl SOOOO much, she is such a sweetheart! We do this thing on our kids' 1st birthdays where we set out a bunch of different objects on the floor, and see which one they'll crawl to. It's supposed to determine what they'll be like when they grow up.....kinda fun.  For Allie's birthday we set out a cell phone, money, camera, doll, candy, jewelry  and a calculator.  Our other kids have gone straight to one object, but Allie took her time and crawled back and forth, checking out everything.  It was so funny! She didn't take anything for a couple minutes, just kept crawling back and forth looking. In the end she finally grabbed the phone :)  We had a fun little family party for her with some cake and ice cream.
Here are some fun things about Allie Ruth at this age that I want to remember:

-She only has one tiny tooth poking through
-gives good kisses (slobbery open mouth ones with a tongue click at the end)
-she LOVES winter squash and sweet potatoes, the real stuff though!
-loves all cooked veggies except for broccoli
-loves oatmeal and cream of wheat....the real stuff :)
-loves bananas
-Loves toast, not bread though :)
-loves graham crackers
-doesn't like pasta
-Loves to play peek-a-boo! Putting her little hands over her eyes.....and sometimes ears.
-Gives fives, and says "yeah!" every time she does it.
-She's such a little sweetie that her first word other than "dada" was thank you!
-she says, "love you" and it melts our hearts. She said it to Reed first, and mostly just says it to him.
-says cracker, Mama, Dada, banana (nana), cracker, thank you, yeah, love you, peek boo, oohh, and stop it. She says that mostly to Branson.
-She has a stuffed bunny that her daddy gave her when she was born that she loves, and has to have it to sleep.
-She takes a sippy cup well.
-Sleeps through the night since she's been done nursing.
-Still usually takes 2 naps during the day
-She's usually happy....except for at church. That's nap time, and she's kind of a mess.
-I told you she is such a little sweetie!  She's so pleasant and nice most of the time.
-She is starting to develop a feisty side....mostly around Branson. They fight sometimes ;)
-She's a good eater, always has been, and she was such a good nurser too.

She really has been such a pleasure!  I was SOOOO nervous before her birth, and since the very first day, I have enjoyed her so much! She even slept through the first two nights home from the hospital! Allie, we all adore you, and are SO grateful you joined our family when you did!!

Trying to decide...

Finally picked the phone.

Holding the phone up to her ear.

She was lucky and got two new play phones! One from each set of grandparents!

Macie trying to help her unwrap her gifts.

Wow...new phone :)

Her cupcakes...

Singing "Happy Birthday" to her.  At the end Branson hurried and blew out her candle!

She was just like my other kids, and was not interested in tearing into her cake. She didn't even get messy! I debated just giving her a cupcake so I didn't have to make a special cake, because I though she might do this ;) She just ate off of a little corner, and I cut that off and we ate the rest of the cake!

Not sure about it.

Trying to get out of her seat. "Why is everyone staring at me?"

Getting a tiny piece at a time.

This is as messy as she got!

Cutie little face.

This is Allie and her cute little cousin Ben.

Grandma and Grandpa Pike

My Grandpa Pike passed away last month, leaving my sweet little Grandma Pike a widow. Both of Reed's Grandpas have passed on, and both of mine have too.  Combined, we have three widowed Grandmothers left, and they are all such amazing women. They are such great examples to us of love, acceptance, strength, and enduring to the end! We love them so much!  Macie was old enough to start to understand what was going on at this funeral. (my Grandpa Pike) She asked lots and lots of questions that made for great teaching moments. Helping her to understand the Plan of Salvation has strengthened my own testimony. I am so grateful for her and her questions and desires to follow Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Macie will still talk about Grandpa Pike a couple times a week, and say that she is sad because he went to Heaven, and that she misses him. And then we get to talk some more about what happens after we die.  I miss my Grandpa too. I was happy when he finally passed on because he had been so close for a long time, but I know it will probably be a long time before I get to see him again. I am so thankful for the knowledge I have that I WILL see him again, and feel comforted to know that he is on the other side watching over us :) I love you Grandpa!

Branson went through a stripping stage a few weeks ago!  Luckily, it only lasted about a week because it was driving me crazy! Here he is almost naked with his diaper sagging off. I was grateful that he never took his diapers off!  He plays with this train he got from Grandma Donna and Grandpa Jody last year for Christmas ALL. THE. TIME. He even has to sleep with it. He calls it his "Dinosaur Train"........pretty cute.

Allie playing in the patio door curtains...I have pictures of all three of my kids doing this :)
